Sales development representative resume example

A one-page resume for an SDR with about two years in the seat who is ready to become an account executive. Sales managers hiring SDRs and promoting them look at three numbers (activity, meetings and pipeline), so this resume puts all three in the first three bullets.

What recruiters look for

  • Meetings against quota: qualified meetings booked, the quota, and your rank among SDRs.
  • Pipeline and revenue sourced: the dollar value of opportunities you created and how much closed.
  • Activity and efficiency: calls, emails, connect and reply rates. They show work ethic and skill together.
  • The tools of the job: Salesforce or HubSpot, Outreach or Salesloft, ZoomInfo, Sales Navigator.
  • Coachability and drive: a sequence you wrote, a peer you trained, a competition you entered.

Writing the summary

Say what you sell, to whom, and your best number. Then one line on how you work. If you are aiming for an AE role, say so plainly: hiring managers like people who know where they are going.

The summary in this example

Sales development representative with two years booking meetings for a mid-market HR software company. I finished 2025 at 119% of my meeting quota by researching before the first call and following up longer than most reps. Ready for a closing role.

First SDR job, coming from hospitality or retail

Restaurant server and shift lead with four years of selling to strangers every night, now moving into tech sales. I average $2,100 in sales a shift, I am comfortable with rejection, and I have completed a sales development course with 300 practice cold calls.

Business development representative for outbound enterprise

Business development representative with three years prospecting into Fortune 1000 IT and security leaders. I build multi-threaded account plans with my AEs and sourced $4.8 million in enterprise pipeline last year, 38% of my team’s total.

Bullet points that work

Strong lines for this role, beyond the ones in the example. Borrow the shape and put in your own numbers.

  • Turned 28% of first meetings into qualified opportunities, the highest conversion on a team of 12.
  • Revived 40 closed-lost accounts with a trigger-based sequence, creating $450,000 in new pipeline.
  • Held 125% of meeting quota for 4 straight quarters and was promoted to senior SDR after 14 months.
  • Raised cold call connect rates from 4% to 9% by calling at local times and using direct dials from ZoomInfo.
  • Booked a meeting with a 3,000-employee target account’s CFO after a 9-month, 14-touch sequence; it closed at $180,000.
  • Cleaned and enriched 6,000 lead records in Salesforce, raising the team’s email deliverability above 95%.
  • Ran the inbound queue on Fridays and replied to demo requests in under 5 minutes on average.
  • Shadowed 30 AE discovery calls and took notes the AEs used in their follow-up.
  • Co-hosted a webinar for 120 prospects with marketing and booked 11 meetings from it.

Skills to list

Hard skills

  • Salesforce or HubSpot CRM
  • Outreach or Salesloft sequencing
  • ZoomInfo, Apollo or Lusha
  • LinkedIn Sales Navigator
  • Cold calling and voicemail
  • Personalized email writing
  • Qualification frameworks (BANT, MEDDICC basics)
  • Call recording and coaching tools (Gong, Chorus)

Soft skills

  • Resilience after rejection
  • Curiosity about the buyer
  • Discipline with daily activity
  • Coachability
  • Clear, short writing

Certifications and licenses worth listing

  • None required: SDR managers hire on drive, communication and early results, not certificates.
  • HubSpot Inbound Sales or Sales Software certification: free and quick; worth a line if you have little sales experience.
  • A sales training program (for example a company-run course or an SDR bootcamp) can go under Education if it is recent and relevant.

Length and format

One page. Lead with your SDR role and its numbers; part-time and student jobs get two bullets that show selling, service or leadership. Education can stay with a line on sales competitions or clubs for the first two years.

Common mistakes

  • Activity with no outcome. “Made 80 calls a day” needs the meetings and pipeline that came from it.
  • Leaving out the quota, so “booked 214 meetings” has nothing to be measured against.
  • Claiming closed revenue as your own. Say “sourced pipeline that closed” and give the AE credit for the close.
  • A generic summary (“motivated self-starter seeking growth”). Say what you sell and your best number instead.

Questions and answers

How do I write an SDR resume with no sales experience?

Show the habits SDR managers hire for: talking to strangers (retail, serving, canvassing), handling rejection, hitting targets of any kind, and learning fast. Add a sales course or certification and a line about how much prospecting practice you have done.

Should I include my activity numbers?

Yes, with a result next to them. Calls and emails per day show work ethic; reply and conversion rates show skill. Together they tell a manager you can be coached.

How do I show I am ready for an AE role?

Pipeline that closed, meetings you ran yourself, deals you helped with, and a promotion or senior SDR title. Say in your summary that you are ready for a closing role.

SDR or BDR: which title should I use?

The one you actually held. Companies use both for similar jobs (BDR often means outbound). Mirror the job ad’s word in your summary where it is true.
