Sales resume examples

Resumes for people who carry a number, from a first SDR job to a VP running a sales organization. Each one puts quota, pipeline and revenue where a sales leader looks first.

Lead with the number, then rank it

A sales manager reads your resume for one thing before anything else: did you hit your number? Write it as a percentage of quota with the quota and the period (“124% of a $1.1 million annual quota”), and add your rank when it is good (“#2 of 16 reps”). Awards such as President’s Club belong in the same bullet or a short awards line.

Show more than one year if you can. One great year can be luck; three years above 100% is a pattern. If a year was weak, you do not have to list attainment for it, but do not invent one either: reference checks in sales often ask about it directly.

Context makes the number believable

120% of quota means different things in different jobs. Give the reader the deal size, the sales cycle, who you sold to and how big your territory or book was. Closing 140 small deals in 30-day cycles and closing four seven-figure deals in nine-month cycles are both impressive, and they are different jobs.

Name your CRM and your sales method once (Salesforce, HubSpot, MEDDICC, Challenger, SPIN), then let the bullets do the work. A paragraph about your “consultative approach” convinces no one; a win rate twice the team average does.

Licenses in regulated sales

Some sales jobs need a license before you can sell: a state real estate license, a state insurance producer license for each line you sell, or FINRA registrations such as the Series 6, 7 or 63 for securities. Put these in their own section with the issuing body and state. Most software, industrial and pharmaceutical sales jobs need no license; there, your numbers are the credential.

Questions and answers

How do I show quota attainment on a sales resume?

As a percentage with the quota amount and period: “Closed $1.36 million in new ARR in 2025, 124% of a $1.1 million quota.” Add your rank among peers if it is strong, and repeat for each year or role you can back up.

What if I missed quota?

Lead with what you can stand behind: deals won, new logos, pipeline created, a large account you landed, or your rank in a year when the whole team missed. Do not make numbers up; sales managers check references.

Should I list President’s Club on my resume?

Yes, every time, with the year. It is the clearest signal of top performance in sales. Put it in the bullet for that year or in a short Awards section.

How long should a sales resume be?

One page for reps with under about eight years; two pages for senior enterprise sellers and sales leaders with long track records. The top third should show your best attainment numbers.
